Jennifer Garner accidentally locks Violet in car

June 22, 2008

Jennifer Garner, 36, experienced the ultimate mommy ‘uh-oh’ moment Thursday 14 June 2008 when she accidentally locked daughter Violet Anne, 2 ½, in her car.  Violet was holding the only key to Jennifer’s Lexus  when the actress shut the door, which automatically locked behind her. Jennifer kept her cool, however, and instructed Violet on how to unlock the door from the inside.  The two then "happily carried on" with their lunch date at the Brentwood Country Mart in Brentwood, CA, the Daily Mail reported.

Access Exclusive: Marcia Cross Involved In Car Accident

June 21, 2008

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—

“Desperate Housewives” star Marcia Cross was involved in a car accident on Wednesday in Los Angeles, Access Hollywood has exclusively learned.
Cross was driving her Lexus RX near Wilshire and Berry in West LA around 2 PM when her vehicle collided with a sedan.
While the damage appeared minimal to Cross’ Lexus, the other driver sustained significant front-end damage, as evidenced by photos from the scene.
Both cars were removed from the scene by a tow truck.
Cross’ newborn twins were not with her at the time of the accident.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, no police report was filed.
And since no injuries were sustained, the officer who responded to the scene only had the two parties exchange information, police told Access.
No further details on the crash were immediately available.

Coolio Arrested on Old Warrant

June 19, 2008

Singer Coolio was arrested Tuesday 10 June 2008 on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for driving with a suspended license, Los Angeles police said.

Rapper Coolio says his arrest  could have been prevented if doorman at Hollywood’s One Sunset venue had let him into the club.
Early this morning—just moments after he had been denied entry to One Sunset—the "Gangsta’s Paradise" performer, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was pulled over by police for a minor traffic violation.
When officers ran a background check on Coolio and his 1996 Hummer, they saw there was a warrant out for his arrest. Police took him into custody for allegedly driving on a suspended license.
But the hip-hop star, 44, who was released from jail hours later, claims the arrest was big mix-up because he’d recently gotten his drivers license back.
And he says he is innocent, claiming the warrant, which was issued in San Bernadino, Calif., was a "mistake."
He tells TMZ.com, "That’s life (not being let into the club). I think it’s ‘cos I’m too dark. I know quite a few people that didn’t get into One Sunset.
If I’d been let in, maybe I wouldn’t have gone to jail. So I’m pissed off about that. But it is what it is. Black people gotta go through a lot of adversity, so I’m used to it. I’m from Compton."
"I had a warrant I didn’t even know I had. I just got my license back a few days ago, so how the hell I got a warrant from 2001? But this from San Bernadino; they make a few mistakes out there… ."

Paul Newman defies cancer reports to plan a return to racing

June 16, 2008

There’s been a lot of concern over his health recently. However, movie icon Paul Newman has only one thing on his mind – getting back behind the wheel of his beloved racing cars.
Despite speculation he is fighting cancer, the 83-year-old actor – who last week said he was "doing nicely" – is still testing cars and even thinking of competing again, reveals a pal.
"He’s going for a test run to see how it goes," revealed Michael Brockman. "He’s talking about another competitive race. He’s doing better than he was so why not?"
Oscar-winner Paul fell in love with the world of motor racing after lensing the film Winning. The 1969 flick, which also stars his wife, Joanne Woodward, sees the blue-eyed actor play Frank Capua, a driver who dreams of winning the Indianapolis 500.
Since then, Paul has competed in many events, including the legendary Le Mans. He also, at the age of 70, became the oldest driver to be part of a winning team at the 24-hour Daytona meeting and is still an active part of the hugely successful Newman/Haas Racing team.

Celebrities test drive

June 14, 2008

After more than two years of development from concept to road car, Dodge has officially delivered the first of its 2008 Challenger SRT8s. The lucky owner? None other than the Tonight Show’s Jay Leno. Leno picked up the car on Tuesday from a Dodge dealer in Van Nuys, California.

In true muscle car and Leno style, the comedian arrived at the dealership in his own vintage Challenger, complete with a 426 Hemi underhood. After a quick walk around and some publicity shots, Leno drove the black Challenger right off the dealer showroom floor and on into the sunset. As with all 2008 Challengers, Leno’s is powered by a 425 horsepower 6.1L Hemi V8.

Despite being the first to take delivery, Leno’s car was not Challenger #1. That vehicle was sold at auction for more than $400,000.

In keeping with the celebrity theme, Dodge also hosted a celebrity test drive of the new Challenger in Southern California. Attendees included Snoop Dogg, Carmen Electra, Audrina Patridge, Luke Wilson, Rob Lowe, David Spade and Macy Gray. While we’ve become accustomed to seeing Dodge’s newest muscle car doing obligatory burnouts, we have to say we quite like the sight of Snoop Dogg lighting up the back tires — not to mention Carmen Electra at the starting line.

Celebrities Who Drive Green

June 12, 2008

Never inclined to be left out of a fast-growing trend, celebrities are hopping on the eco-friendly bandwagon when it comes to everything from shopping bags to million-dollar homes. Now, it’s their wheels.
These days, it’s not uncommon in Tinseltown to trade in a gas-guzzler for something a little bit greener. From Leonardo DiCaprio, one of the pioneers of the push toward economically efficient autos, to a newly converted Paris Hilton, A-listers are quickly becoming conscious of the environment.

It’s not only Hollywood’s younger generation that’s getting involved, either. Many old-timers are embracing the new non-polluting technologies that are being developed. George Clooney cruises around L.A. in his Tango 600, a two-seat electrically powered vehicle. He was the first to purchase one of its kind—an automobile six inches narrower than many motorcycles with a range of 80 miles.

The Toyota Prius is clearly the most common vehicle on our celebrity-saturated list of green drivers. America Ferrera, Cameron Diaz and Julia Roberts are some of the proud owners of this car, which in 2007 won the Intellichoice 2007 award for Best Overall Value, Lowest Fuel Costs, Lowest Ownership Costs, Best Retained Value and Lowest Operating Costs.

Another car on the list is the GMC Yukon, which Paris Hilton recently bought as a birthday gift to herself. The first full-size hybrid SUV is sure to get a fair share of attention as the heiress is frequently found cruising around L.A. from hot spot to hot spot, with the paparazzi never far behind. The Yukon was also recently used in another Hollywood effort to go green as many of this year’s Oscar attendees showed up at the show in the GMC Yukon Hybrid, the Chevy Equinox Fuel Cell or the FlexFuel E85 ethanol-compatible GMC Yukon.

In the future, it seems like even the cars that are driving celebrities will be going green, as a recent announcement from New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg points out that the Taxi and Limousine Commission will soon require black cars to increase fuel efficiency standards to a level that is currently only available by using hybrid technology.

What is causing all these stars to go green? One possible explanation comes from Aliana Marino, vice president of innovative and expansive marketing for Eco-Bags Products, an eco-friendly company that frequently works with celebrity clients. "In some ways, ‘green’ is the new ‘low-fat’—it’s not only the latest trend but also an expression of upper-class consumer restraint," Marino says. "Any publicized attempt at greening allows a celebrity to show their compassionate, humanist side. It’s an excellent counterpart to the negative publicity of egoism and excess to which many celebrities fall victim."

Whatever their reasoning, celebrities are turning toward non-polluting vehicles more than ever. Movie stars, TV stars, comedians and top politicians all appear on our list, each one as a proud owner of an eco-friendly auto. Before you know it, these celebs will surely be influencing others to paint their town, be it Los Angeles, New York, or anything in between, green.

Another Hogan Car Crash!

June 11, 2008

Hulk Hogan and his family were involved in yet another car accident on Sunday

25 May 2008
It happened in the afternoon in the northbound lanes of the Bayside Bridge in Clearwater, Florida.
Several cars were involved, sources tell us, and several lanes of traffic were shut down as a result.
The Florida Highway Patrol was on the scene almost instantly, and, thankfully, no one was badly hurt.
Ughhh.
This family has had enough car drama. They should just stay off the road!

Cruz-ing

June 10, 2008

Shown here is Penelope Cruz getting into some dude’s Chrysler Sebring. Not to knock the Sebring, but how is it that a woman ranked #23 on Stuff Magazine’s "102 Sexiest Women in the World" is getting into a car ranked #46 on MyRide.com’s list of most harmless cars ever?

For every guy in LA who is convinced girls won’t date them unless they upgrade their ride, here is a little hope.

David Cook`s Bike

Check out the motorcycle David Cook got for winning Idol.

Ultra Motorcycle Co. of Temecula, Calif. made for "Idol’s" winner. Even though David Cook might want to use the vehicle to get as far away from "AI" as possible, he’ll have the judges along for the ride—their mugs are painted all over the back of the bike. (Sorry, but that drawing of Randy? A little pitchy, dog.)

And that itch in his crotch? Could be his predecessors on the "Idol" throne—that includes Fantasia and Taylor Whatshisname—are painted right on the gas tank.
