Kings of the road: Frank Lampard eyes a ?3.6m vintage Ferrari while Chris Evans cruises around in his new model

November 10, 2008

These may be times of economic hardship, but it seems not everyone is feeling the pinch.

Chelsea footballer Frank Lampard was spotted checking out a vintage Ferrari worth ?3.6million.

While the rest of Britain looks at ways to save pennies, 30-year-old Lampard took a long look at a selection of exclusive cars up for sale at a London auction.

The England midfielder dropped into the sale on his way to training, and took his time examining the most expensive car at the show, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder with an estimate of ?3,000,000-?3,600,000.

The father-of-two already owns a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and an Aston Martin DB9.

Chris Evans has also been struck by fast car fever – he was seen cruising around North London yesterday in his new Ferrari 599 GTB, estimated to be worth around ?220,000

He was joined by his wife Natasha Shishmanian, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

The Radio 2 star is a well-known car enthusiast. His collection includes a Ferrari 550 Maranello, a Land Rover V8, a Mark II Jaguar, a Morris Minor drop-top and a 1964 Ford Mustang convertible.

In May this year, he splashed out ?5.5 million for a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder, setting a new world record price for a car at auction.

The supercar used to belong to James Coburn, star of The Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape, who died in 2002.
